Currently from April 6th The York River has continued to rise from a level of 8.9 m/sec to 10.9 m/sec April 18th. the discharge rate April 6th was 30m/s and is currently 101.01 m/s April 18th. Some localized flooding.
The river is clear from obstructions from South Baptiste Lake Road south to Bancroft. However there is plenty of carnage going down the river. The water temp is 33 degrees F. With a ten knot current at Trip And Trails April 18
The Little Mississippi River is obstruction free from the Bouter Road Bridge to the Iron Bridge. However high water below Lonies Chute has confused paddlers as to the most direct route.
Many back bays are now accessible however ice remains in shaded areas April 18th.
The York River continues to rise from yesterdays discharge rate of 40m/sec to 55.2m/sec. The water levels have increased from 9.2m yesterday to 9.7m today. There is a strong current at TNT and water temp remain frigid. There is a scheduled power outage planned for Sunday may 7 from 8am-2pm. Hydro one is installing "smart switches"? in the power grid to better determine where power outages occur. Here is the link to the full story.

Great news, The York River appears to have crested as of April 19th. The water levels have dropped from a level of 10.8m April 18 to 10.7m
April 19. The discharge rate has dropped from 99.6m/s to 94.5m/s. The current is still fast but water levels at TNT have decreased. Clear paddling from Baptiste Lake South Road to Bancroft. Clear paddling from Bancroft South to Egan Chutes with the exception of one huge log jam south of Laval lee Rapids. Little Missippi River clear from Boulter Road Bridge to Iron Bridge Road. Will update more info as paddlers venture further down the watershed. Wednesday April 19th MNR issued a flood warning on 4 rivers.The York ,Madawaska, Opeongo, Little Mississippi. The flood warning is in effect until Monday. So get your assets high and dry.

The River levels continue to drop from 10.4 m to 10.2m from april 20th. The discharge rate was 82.9m/sec yesterday and today it is 74.7m/sec. This is good news for residents along the watershed as it appears that the river has crested. However 15-20mm rain expected this eve and Saturday. April 25th York River update. Looks like The River is well back in its banks with a 9.1m level reduced from Aprill 22- 9.6m level. Discharge rates have also reduced from 64.0m/sec to 36.2m/sec. This is great news for people along the watershed. Paddling is clear from Egan Chutes through to the Boulter Road bridge. However some of the portages have trees down. "Live Life Outside" |
